Handling Adversity in life

A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer's well. The farmer heard the mule braying or whatever mules do whenever they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided neither the mule nor the neighbours together and told them what happened. He enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially, the old mule was hysterical. But as the farmer and his neighbours continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back, he should shake it off and step up! This he did blow after blow.

"Shake it off and step up..Shake it off and step up...Shake it off and step up!" he repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or how distressing the situation, the old mule fought panic and just kept right on shaking it off and stepping up.

It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly over the wall. What could have buried him blessed him-all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.

My Mother

I love my mother dearly,
because she is not my friend merely,
She's also a comforting friend when
I'm sad.

And a stern mother when i am bad,
she plays with me when ever
she is free,we play so many games
just her and me.

Whenever I'm in one of my
horrible moods, she cooks
some of my favorite foods.

Whenever i need her she's always
by my side, from her there is
nothing i will hide,because i know
that there is no other, like my
wonderful mother.

Health

Some people don't do well simply because they don't feel well.

Some people take better care of their pets than they do themselves. Their animals can run like a wind they can barely make it up a flight of stairs.

Make sure the outside of you is good reflection of the inside of you.

Treat your body like a temple, not a woodshed. The mind and the body work together. Your body needs to be a good support system for the mind and the spirit. If you take a good care of it, your body can take you wherever you want to go, with the power and strength and energy and vitality you will need to get there.

Take good care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.

Basics/Fundamentals

Success is neither magical nor mysterious.Success is the natural consequences of consistently applying basic fundamentals.

There are no new fundamentals. You've got to be a little suspicious of someone who says,"I've got a new fundamental."That's like someone inviting you to tour a factory where they are manufacturing antiques.

Some things you have to do every day. Eating seven apples on saturday night instead of one a day just isn't going to get the job done.

Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day; while failure is simple few errors in judgement, repeated every day. It is the accumulative weight of our disciplines and our judgements that leads to either fortune or failure.

Reputation

Each of us must be committed to maintaining the reputation of all of us. And all of us must be committed to maintaining the reputation of each of us.

Accuracy builds credibility.

It only take one lie to taint your entire testimony.

The bible give us a list of human stories on both sides of the ledger. One list of human stories used as examples- do what people did. Another list of human stories is used as warning - don't do what these people did. So if your story ever gets in one of these books, make sure they use it as an example, not a warning.

Do you have big rocks in your life?

One day an expert on time management was speaking to a group of business students. To drive home a point, this expert used an illustration I'm sure those students will never forget. As this man stood in front of the group of high- powered overachievers, he said,"Okay time for a quiz." Then he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouthed mason jar and set it on a table in front of him. Then he produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and more rocks would fit inside, he asked"Is this jar full?" Everyone in the class said, "Yes." The he said, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. The he dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. Then he smiled and asked the group once more," Is the jar full?" By this time the class was onto him." probably not," one of them answered. "Good" he replied. And he reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is the jar full?"

"No!" the class shouted. Once again he said,"Good" Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the Jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked up yo the class and asked, "What is the point of illustration?" One eager beaver raised his hand and said, " The point is, no matter how full your scheduled is, if you try really heard, you can always fit more things into it!" "No," the speaker replied, "that's not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is that if we don't put the big rocks in first, we'll never get in at all."

Under The Wing Of Love

An article on National Geographic several years ago provided a penetrating picture of God's wings... After a forest fire in yellowstone National part, forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree knowing that the toxic smoke will rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze arrived the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, those under the cover of her wings would live.

Celebrating Women's Day

When God sat down to make a woman
He gave her empathy love and compassion,
By the time he finished with her
He had no more left for the man.

He gave her the ability to be a mother
And nurture and take care of others.
Slowly, on reflecting, it dawned on her
She was being treated like a piece of furniture.

At first she resigned to her fate
Bore the indifference of her progeny and mate.
Slowly she realised she didn’t have to be a victim,
And didn’t have to be at the mercy or everyone’s whims.

She knew it was not going to be an easy battle to be won,
Yet she took on everyone.
She began to firmly express her views
And waited to get her due.

At first it didn’t go down well with anyone,
They wondered if she had been possessed by a demon.
Men were not amused,
In fact they were confused.

We give her food, clothes and roof over her head,
But the woman had empowered herself to earn her own bread,
Car, house and thus managed to redeem,
With her hard work her self esteem.

She had made a tough choice,
And finally had a voice
Men tried very hard to keep her in her place
And made sure she got no space.

They were not at par,
This is a question I have to ask the Lord.
So there was a war,
Did man pay a ransom to God?

No matter what a woman achieves,
She rarely receives
The acknowledgement which she deserves.
Yet she is able to preserve

Her sanity and peace.
And learn to live with dis-ease,
Then her inner voice whispered to her,
Don’t resign just pamper

His ego, and give him the credit
For all the merit.
Watch how his chest swells with pride
And he might be on your side.

Men actually never grow up,
So from time to time pump
Them up with a hug and a fancy meal.
It will make them feel

Like a king while you smile.
It’s not all that difficult to use a little guile.
Silly women you haven’t gone about it the right way,
Use your soft, cunning, clever, gentle voice and say

I am so proud to be wearing this wedding band.
Chances are he will be eating out of your hand.
You only stand to gain
Even if you feign.

So go ahead and do your own thing,
Let him feel you owe him your sense of well being.
Women’s liberation never went down well with men
So don’t chant what women want while you are in your den
While you laze around sipping your wine
Don’t be surprised if he sheepishly asks, ‘will you like to go out to dine? '

God you made us smart
Right from the start.
It took us a long time to realise
And become cool, calm and wise,
To use enlightened manipulation
With a subtle passion
While having our own way
So that he may
Feel we were just following his command,
And there was no reason to feel alarmed.

If he says he wants to bond with his male friends,
Smile and say go I have lots of errands
There is no point to sulk and wait,
Till he returns and opens the gate.

Use this time to make sure
You have a good time even if you just go for a pedicure.
Indulge in your famous past times
While sipping soda and lime.

Chances are when you have both had your space,
You won’t have to face
Cold vibes and bad temper,
This will only hamper

You from a good night sleep,
While you helplessly weep
While he sleeps and snores by your side,
And you swallow your pride.

Women love yourselves, and put youselves first
But please you must
Not voice it at all
This way I promise you will have a ball.

The Inner Strength Of a Person

I asked for strength i might achieve;
I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health that I might do greater things;
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.

I asked for riches that I might be happy;
I was given poverty that I might be wise.

I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;
I was given weakness that I might feel need of God.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
I was given life that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing that i had asked for,
But everything that i hoped for.

Almost despite myself my prayers were answered;
I am, among all men, most richly blessed.

A Touching Story Of a Girl Who Wanted a Ring

Words and Vocabulary

The two great words of antiquity are behold and beware.

Vocabulary enables us to interpret and to express. If you have a limited vocabulary, you will have to have limited vision and a limited future.

Well chosen words mixed with measured emotions is the basis of affecting people.

It's okay to send flowers, but don't let the followers do all the talking. Flowers have a limited vocabulary. About the best flowers can say is that you are remembered.

Words do two major things: They provide food for the mind and create light for understanding and awareness.

Value

Count the cost first. Don't pay too big a price for pursuing minor values.

The major the value in life is not what you get.The major value in life is what you become. That is why I wish to pay fair price for every value. If I have to pay it or earn it, that makes something of me. If I get it for free, that makes nothing of me.

All values must be won by contest, and after they have been won, they must be defended.

Don't sell out your virtue and your value for something you think you want. Judas got the money, but he threw it all away and hung himself because he was unhappy with himself.

Values were meant to be costly. If it doesn't cost much, we probably wouldn't appreciate the value.

Relationships

One person caring about another represents life's greatest value.

Your family and your must be cultivated like a garden. Time, effort and imagination must be summoned constantly to keep any relationship flourishing and growing.

The greatest gift you can give somebody is your personal development. I used to say, "If you will take care of me, I will take care of you. "Now I say, "I will take care of me for you if you will take care of you for me."

The walls we build around us to keep our the sadness also keep out the joy.

You cannot succeed by yourself. It's hard to find a rich hermit.
